Bridge spans to be installed over rail corridor in Liberty Village Sunday

The City of Toronto will be installing bridge spans over the Metrolinx Kitchener-Milton Rail Corridor in Liberty Village on Sunday.
The 55-metre spans are part of the new King-Liberty Pedestrian Cycle Bridge and stretch from Douro Street all the way to Western Battery Road, Metrolinx said.
The installation work will see the rail corridor closed on Sunday from 2 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and will interrupt UP Express service.
Replacement buses will be put in service to accommodate customers who would normally use the train line during that time period, Metrolinx said.
“The first bus will leave from Union Station at 5:05 a.m. and at Pearson at 5:37 a.m. on Sunday,” Metrolinx said. “Replacement buses will run every 20 minutes until train service resumes at 8:30 a.m. During that time buses will not stop at Weston or Bloor Station.”
Once completed, the bridge will feature public art, along with elevators for barrier-free access, CCTV cameras, and emergency call buttons, the city said.
The project was first approved by the city council in 2011. The bridge is expected to be completed in 2020.
