A 52-year-old motorcyclist is dead following a crash in Markham.

York regional police were called to the intersection of Rodick and Alden roads shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived at the scene they found the Markham man without vital signs. He was rushed to hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Police said it appears the motorcyclist went off the roadway and struck a telephone pole. It’s uncertain at this time what caused the bike to leave the roadway.

Police are asking for witnesses or anyone with dash cam video to contact police.
