Sweater weather arrives early, compared to this time last year

By News staff

With summer slowly phasing out and autumn about to move in, it appears single-digit temperatures are arriving sooner rather than later.

Although the high in Toronto will reach 21 C on Thursday, the low will be near 9 C. Single-digit temperatures are also expected for the weekend.

Environment Canada meteorologist Gerald Cheng said the weather this September is very different from last September.

“We began the month last year with 30 degrees, 34 degrees even, so it was really warm. We didn’t get those single-digit lows until the end of the month,” Cheng said.

The temperature in Toronto hit 34 C on this day last year.
