The Transportation Safety Board (TSB) says they have deployed an investigation team after a worker was killed at the CN Rail MacMillan Yard Thursday.

York Regional Police said the call came in at around 2 a.m. for a report that a railcar had derailed and that there was a worker trapped underneath.

Vaughan Fire and EMS attended the scene and a person was declared dead at the scene, police said.

EMS said they didn’t transport anyone to the hospital and the coroner had attended the incident.

Police added that the Ontario Ministry of Labour, CN Rail, and the CN Rail Police are investigating the incident.

No details on the victim or the circumstances surrounding the incident have been released.

Jonathan Abecassis, senior manager of media relations with CN Rail confirmed one of their employees was killed at the yard.

“We want to offer our sincere condolences to the employee’s friends, family, loved ones, and community in these tragic times,” Abecassis said.

The railyard is located in Vaughan, Ont. off Highway 7, between Creditstone Road and Keele Street.
