A 42-year-old man died after his motorcycle collided with a car in Scarborough.

Police were called to McCowan Road and Steeles Avenue East just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

It appears the car was heading westbound on Steeles, turning left onto McCowan when it collided with the motorcycle which was heading through the intersection.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital via an emergency run in critical condition and died of his injuries in hospital. The 39-year-old driver of the car was also injured in the crash.

I’m sure the car pulled out in front of him. I ride a lot and see dumb, distracted drivers eating, texting, on their phone every day. Pay attention and open your eyes people!

@rds65: regardless if a motorcyclist (or car/truck/van) tries to beat a red light, it is the vehicle turning left that is ultimately responsible to ensure the way is clear before proceeding.
