York regional police say one man has life-threatening injuries after a shooting during a suspected home invasion in Markham.

Police say it happened at a residence on Boxwood Crescent south of Highway 407, just before 2 p.m.

The victim was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition. Other people were reportedly home at the time of the home invasion, but were not injured.

“Two men entered the house wearing masks,” explained Const. Andy Pattenden. “A shooting occurred and those men fled the area in a dark-coloured vehicle.”

Neighbours say a family of four has been renting the home for the last two years.

Police are canvassing the area and looking for video surveillance from neighbours.
