A 31-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges after allegedly crashing his car into a store window and then hitting a pedestrian in the city’s downtown core overnight.
Police said that around 12:30 a.m. a vehicle crashed into the front window of the Shoppers Drug Mart and Yonge and College streets.
The driver then backed the vehicle out of the store window, leaving the front bumper and licence plate inside the store.
Police said the driver then struck and seriously injured the 50-year-old pedestrian near Elizabeth and Gerrard streets, west of Bay Street.
Once again, the driver fled the scene.
The vehicle and driver were eventually apprehended by police on Dundas Street at Chestnut Street just after 1 a.m.
Hozeir Kazemi of Toronto was taken into custody and will be facing three charges — impaired driving, dangerous driving and fail to remain.
Police are asking anyone who may have video from any of the three scenes, or may have witnessed the incidents, to contact investigators.
