A man has died after being struck by a train on the Lakeshore East line, Metrolinx said Monday.
Police said they were called to a report of a medical complaint at the Danforth GO Train station at around 12 p.m.
It was initially reported by police that a man had suffered very serious injuries, but Metrolinx later confirmed that a man had died at the scene.
Trains were stopped so police could investigate and the passengers were allowed to disembark from the train.
Metrolinx said a new crew will replace the drivers of the train.
GO Transit tweeted at around 1:33 p.m. that service would resume on the line, but would not stop at the Danforth station.
The provincial agency said it typically takes about two hours to investigate these types of incidents before full service can resume.
LE #GOpassengers: We have been given permission to resume service with the first eastbound train leaving Union at 13:43. This train will not stop at Danforth GO however will make all stops to Oshawa from Scarborough GO. We continue to expect delays and possible cancellations.
