The Honda Indy is this weekend and road closures ahead of the roar on the lakeshore have already started.
As of Wednesday, the eastbound and westbound lanes of Lake Shore Boulevard West were shut down from Strachan Avenue to British Columbia Drive. Southbound Strachan Avenue is also closed from Fleet Street to Lake Shore.
Strachan is expected to reopen at midnight Sunday while Lake Shore is closed until 5:30 a.m. Monday, city officials said.
The Indy starts on Friday with “Fan Friday” and the main race is on Sunday.
Police are asking anyone attending the three-day Honda Indy festivities to take public transit. The TTC and GO Transit will be providing increased service to Exhibition Place.
However, for those taking the subway, riders will navigate around a partial subway closure on Line 1 and a late opening on Line 2.
On Saturday and Sunday, trains won’t be running between Lawrence and St. Clair stations. Then on Sunday, subway service on Line 2 between St. George and Broadview stations will start at noon. Shuttle buses and Wheels-Tran service will be running.
