Man facing charges in High Park gun call, no weapon recovered

A man is facing charges after reports of someone with a gun prompted the evacuation of High Park Tuesday.
Police were called to the area around 4 p.m. and when officers arrived, they saw a man with a black handgun run into a forested area.
The park was briefly closed as they conducted a search of the area and one man was taken into custody. A gun was not located.
He is now facing charges of mischief, possession of an imitation weapon, failure to comply with probation and failure to appear.
Police say despite the fact a gun was not recovered, the possession of an imitation gun charge was laid, “based on the information and evidence [detectives] have after further investigation enough the firearm has not been recovered.”
The man appeared in court on Wednesday.
