A 55-year-old man is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a Toronto man at a downtown shelter last week.

Last Thursday, Hassan Gutale Ali, 52, was found dead at a transitional housing complex at Queen and Jarvis streets.

Police initially responded to the scene for a medical call, but later said that Ali was the victim of a homicide.

He is the city’s 26th homicide of the year.

Abdullahi Osman, 55, was arrested on Wednesday in the area of George and Gerrard streets. He is expected to appear in court on Thursday.
