Security image released of vehicles involved in Queen and Spadina shooting

Toronto police have released a security camera image of two vehicles believed to have been involved in a shooting in the city’s downtown core on Wednesday.

Emergency crews were called to Queen Street West and University Avenue around 3 a.m. after reports of shots being fired.

Police said a white vehicle and a red vehicle were seen following each other in the area when some sort of interaction took place at the intersection.

The driver of the red vehicle then opened fire on the white vehicle. One of the bullets struck the passenger in his hip.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, made his way to a nearby hospital and was transferred to a trauma centre with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police said between 12 to 15 shots were fired at the white vehicle — believed to be a Chevrolet Malibu.

Investigators are hoping members of the public can help identify the drivers of both cars.
