When is your TTC route getting the new streetcars?

By News Staff

Commuters will soon be seeing the TTC’s new low-floor streetcars on more routes, says TTC CEO Rick Leary in his latest report.

The TTC has long been waiting for manufacturer Bombardier to come through on Toronto’s full order of 204 streetcars. The TTC has said that would happen by the end of 2019, and the agency is monitoring Bombardier’s progress.

In 2018, Bombardier’s years of delivery delays forced the TTC to pull streetcars off of the 505 Dundas and 511 Bathurst routes, replacing them with buses.

But that won’t continue for much longer, according to Leary’s May report. As Bombardier delivers new vehicles, streetcars will return to those routes in the coming months.

The 504 King, 509 Harbourfront, 510 Spadina, and 512 St. Clair routes are already exclusively using new streetcars.

The TTC began running some of the new vehicles on the 501 Queen route in January. By the fall, downtown Queen Street riders will be exclusively riding new cars.

Here is when you can expect to see the new streetcars on other routes:

511 Bathurst: Summer 2019
506 Carleton: Fall 2019
505 Dundas: Spring 2020
503 Kingston Road: Sometime in 2020
