1 charged with attempted murder in violent Greektown-area shooting

By News Staff

Toronto police have arrested one person and are searching for another in connection with a shooting in the Greektown area last Friday.

Investigators say a car was stopped at a traffic light at the intersection of Bloor Street East and Castle Frank Road when a white hatchback pulled up alongside.

It’s alleged that someone in the white hatchback began shooting multiple rounds into the first car, striking a 34-year-old man who then fled the scene.

As the car proceeded east along Bloor, the driver became unconscious and crashed his vehicle several blocks away near Danforth and Chester avenues.

Police executed a search warrant at a home in East York where they recovered a 9 mm handgun and magazine as well as a white hatchback car believed to be involved in the shooting.

Maliq Crush, 26, of Toronto has been charged with attempted murder as well as a number of weapons offences.

Police believe there was a second suspect in the white hatchback who remains outstanding.

The victim continues to recover from his injuries in hospital.
