Homicide investigating after man shot outside Scarborough home on Sunday

A 28-year-old man who was gunned down outside a home in Scarborough on Sunday has died.

Toronto police were called to the scene on Ivy Green Crescent, in the area of Orton Park Road and Lawrence Avenue East, around 10:30 p.m.

The victim was found outside of a home on the residential street, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Police said one of the bullets struck him in the head.

The victim was rushed to a trauma centre in critical condition, where he later died.

He has been identified as Lawrence Taylor Gannon, of Toronto. Police originally said the victim was 18 years old but now say he is 28.

The suspect is described as a man in his mid 20s, dark brown skin, thin build, five feet 11 inches tall, clean shaven. He was seen fleeing the area on foot.

Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting.

Investigators would like to speak to anyone who may have specific information on the victim’s activities in the day leading up to his death.

Homicide has taken over the investigation.

This is Toronto’s 20th homicide of 2019.
