By News Staff

Two people are in hospital after a multi-vehicle crash in Brampton on Monday evening.

Peel Regional Police, fire crews and paramedics initially responded to a multi-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue around 5:30 p.m.

An investigation revealed that two cars collided in a parking lot and one of the drivers stepped out of his car. The second driver then allegedly continued driving, hitting the first driver and crashing into a third vehicle.

The first driver who exited his vehicle was seriously injured and taken to a trauma centre.

The driver of the second car, a 63-year-old man, was taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition.

The major collisions bureau is investigating and witnesses are asked to contact police with any information.

Westbound lanes of Steeles Avenue are currently closed at Kennedy Road and drivers are being asked to take alternate routes.

Correction: This story has been corrected – police initially said this was a three vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and one driver and a pedestrian were injured. They later updated to say both people injured were drivers.
