Boy, 14, and 18-year-old woman face multiple charges in threats against Thunder Bay high school

THUNDER BAY, Ont. — A 14-year-old boy and 18-year-old woman are facing charges related to a series of anonymous threats targeting a high school in Thunder Bay, Ont.

Local police say nearly a dozen threats were made against Hammarskjold High School over the past two months, but the arrests centre on those made between April 8 and 17.

Police allege the boy and woman both submitted anonymous threats on those days, adding some of them involved planned shootings and potential explosives.

They allege the threats sent in by the woman were communicated using the anonymous Crime Stoppers tip line.

They say they were able to identify the devices used to send in the threats, which resulted in the school being closed for several days.

The woman now faces a total of six mischief-related charges, while the boy faces eight. They appeared in court this morning and have since been released.
