Heavy rainfall, periods of snow forecast for Toronto and GTA

It will be a messy, soggy end to the month of March.

Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Toronto and most of the GTA with between 25 to 40 mm likely in some areas.

The Toronto Regional Conservation Authority is warning that the heavy downpours could result in localized ponding and flash flooding in some low-lying areas. All shorelines, rivers and streams around the GTA should be considered hazardous.

The rain is expected to transition into snow and wet snow with up to 4 cm possible in Toronto while areas to the north in York and Durham region could see upwards of 8 cm of snow. Drivers are cautioned to expect slippery conditions on the roadways.

The forecast for Sunday is expected to be dry but you will need to bundle up with a high of only 2 C feeling like -6 with the windchill.
