No joke: TTC fares will increase April 1

By News Staff

It’s almost time to say “Hello” to higher transit costs as most TTC fares and passes are set to increase on April 1st.

Adult riders who use Presto will pay 10 cents more per single trip. Monthly passes will increase by $4.90 per month and 12-month passes will increase by $4.55 per month. Student, post-secondary and senior passes will go up by $5.70 per month.

Adult cash fares will remain the same at $3.25 per trip, and children under 12-years-old will continue to ride for free.

Starting Sunday, the TTC weekly pass will be discontinued. Customers will have to either pay as they go or buy a monthly pass.

The TTC says it is looking into more fare options for Presto users, such as a weekly maximum, as part of an ongoing fare policy review.
