An 18-year-old man has been charged in connection with a suspicious death in Oshawa that is being investigated by the Homicide Unit.

Around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, emergency crews were called to a home on Langford Street, in the Adelaide Avenue East and Townline Road North area, after reports of a man with life-threatening injuries.

Officers found 21-year-old Ahmed Buttu suffering obvious signs of trauma. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mohammad Khan of Whitby was arrested and has been charged with second degree murder.

A post-mortem is being scheduled to determine cause of death.

There has been no word on how the suspect and the victim knew each other but investigators say they don’t believe this was a random act.

Durham police canvassed the neighbourhood on Thursday and were looking for any video from the area.
