More snow in February? It is winter, after all

By News staff

The GTA, which is still recovering from Monday’s fierce winds and blizzard conditions, is bracing for yet another snowfall.

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the region, saying parts of southern Ontario could receive up to 15 centimetres of snow on Wednesday.

680 NEWS meteorologist Jill Taylor said the snow will start after 9 a.m. on Wednesday and continue until early Thursday morning. Although the winds diminished on Tuesday, the gusts will pick up during the snowfall.

The heaviest amounts are expected to fall in the afternoon, likely affecting the evening commute.

Taylor said based on the forecast right now, areas north and east in the GTA will get up to seven centimetres of snow, while Toronto and west GTA could get 10 centimetres.

She said depending on how much lake enhancement there is, areas like Oakville and Burlington could get up to 15 centimetres of snow.
