Driver arrested, stolen bulldozer recovered in east end home crash

By News Staff

One man is in custody after a front-end loader was driven into the side of a home in the city’s east end.

Officers were called to the house at Danforth and Macey avenues, near Victoria Park, just after noon on Saturday.

The loader is believed to have been stolen from a nearby construction site and crashed into the home unintentionally.

There were people in the home at the time of the crash but no one was injured.

City building inspectors have been called in to assess the damage and determine the structural integrity of the home.

Police initially said they were looking for two men in their 20s who were seen fleeing the scene with the front-end loader eastbound down Denton Avenue.

Late Saturday, police said they had recovered the small bulldozer and it’s driver. He is being treated for minor injuries in hospital.

No charges have been laid but its believed alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.
