Freezing rain for the GTA starting Wednesday afternoon

By News Staff

The commute in to work on Wednesday will be fine but that could all change by the afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Toronto and much of the GTA, warning of freezing rain Wednesday.

“Precipitation is expected to begin Wednesday morning as ice pellets before becoming mixed with freezing rain near midday,” the national weather agency said.

The freezing rain may linger for several hours, ending in the evening or overnight.

The GTA has been experiencing warmer weather since Monday, but the temperature is expected to drop to -2 C by Tuesday afternoon.

And as the temperature hovers near 0 C, the chance of freezing rain is more likely.

Taylor said the high for Wednesday will be near -2 C.
