GTA driver escapes serious injury after guard rail crashes through windshield

A driver escaped serious injury after a piece of a guard rail came crashing through their front windshield.
OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says around 8 a.m. Thursday morning a vehicle lost control on the westbound QEW near Hurontario and hit the centre guard rail which separates the east and westbound lanes. The force of the impact sent a piece of the wooden support beam flying into a passing car travelling in the eastbound lanes, shattering the front windshield and lodging itself between the window and the steering wheel.
Miraculously the driver suffered only minor cuts and scrapes.
