2 Toronto cops under investigation after interaction with women at downtown bar

By News Staff

The conduct of two Toronto police officers is being called into question after videos showing an encounter with women at a downtown bar surfaced online.

The person who originally posted the video has since made her Instagram account private — but the videos have been re-shared all over social media.

The encounter reportedly happened either Sunday night or early Monday morning.

One video appears to show two uniformed officers with women in handcuffs posing for pictures. Another video shows at least one woman getting into the back of a cruiser and watching YouTube on the dashboard computer.

“The videos were brought to our attention by the media,” Toronto police spokeswoman Meghan Gray explained.

“The account and the videos and photos in question were immediately sent to Professional Standards. They’ve now started an investigation and they will determine if any misconduct has taken place.”

Gray said there doesn’t appear to have been a service call made to the bar that night, so there’s no word why the officers were at that location.

The incident is now being investigated and the officers remain on duty pending the outcome of the review.

“These matters are taken very seriously by Professional Standards and if they have determined that misconduct has taken place, those officers will be disciplined,” Gray stated.

CityNews has not verified the authenticity of the videos.
