A woman in her 70s was rushed to a trauma centre after she was struck by a vehicle in Scarborough.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Sheppard Avenue East and Allanford Road, east of Birchmount Road, just before 7 p.m. on Wednesday.

Toronto police said it appears the woman was trying to cross Sheppard Avenue at a pedestrian crossing when she was struck.

The vehicle, believed to be a dark-coloured Honda CRV, fled the scene.
