By News Staff

Toronto police say a man shot in the chest early Friday morning in a condo tower across the street from Scotiabank Arena appears to be accidental.

Police were called to the scene on the 16th floor of the building on York Street at Lake Shore Boulevard West around 3 a.m.

When they arrived at the building, officers found the victim in the lobby area. He was suffering from serious gunshot wounds.

Police said the male victim was conscious when paramedics rushed him to hospital.

Late Friday, police updated his condition to stable and said their investigation revealed the shooting was an “accidental discharge” and they are no longer looking for any suspects.

There had been another male laying on the floor of the lobby following the shooting, who appeared to be in shock. Paramedics tended to him at the scene.
