Package found at Pearson airport deemed not suspicious

By News Staff

Operations are back to normal at Pearson International Airport after a suspicious package was found on the third level of Terminal 1.

Peel police were called to the airport just around 8:45 p.m. Wednesday.

Airport officials initially said on Twitter that the package was an unattended bag.

Level three of the terminal was evacuated and officers from Peel police’s explosives disposal unit were called in.

Const. Akhil Mooken said an airport employee alerted police to the package, which was found before the security checkpoint.

During their investigation, police found bag contained items for routine tests of security checkpoints. They say the items were most likely left by an airport partner after being used.

International and domestic screening has since re-opened at the terminal.
