Man, 46, sought after woman and her daughter attacked in Scarborough

Police are searching for a 46-year-old man in connection with a vicious attack on a teenage girl and her mother in the city’s east end Friday.

Police were called to a building on Trudelle Street in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and McCowan Road just after 6 p.m. Friday for what they described as “unknown trouble.”

When they arrived, they found a 16-year-old girl with stab wounds on her upper body and a 37-year-old woman with serious injuries. The girl was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition, and her mother was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On Saturday, police said the mother had been released from hospital while the teen remained in intensive care in stable condition.

A gofundme page has been set up to raise funds to help the teen through her recovery process.

Police said two other small children in the apartment at the time of the assault were not injured.

Police are searching for Harry Rajkumar, who is wanted for attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and failure to comply.

They said Rajkumar is not the father of the 16-year-old but is in a common-law relationship with the mother. Investigators have appealed for him to turn himself in.

The public is advised to treat Rajkumar as armed and dangerous and call 911 if he is spotted.
