Suspect arrested after bank robbed near Midland and Finch

Toronto police have arrested a man after a bank was robbed in the city’s northeast end on Monday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the area of Midland Avenue and Finch Avenue East for a robbery.

A gun was reportedly seen during the robbery.

The man was taken into custody after police found a black SUV, believed to be the getaway vehicle.

The incident prompted police to issue hold and secures at three area schools — Thomas L. Wells Public School, Brookside Public School and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. The hold and secures have since been lifted.

Police are searching for a second suspect believed to be connected to the robbery.

He is described as five feet nine inches tall and was last ween wearing a black jacket and a green hoodie.

Const. Caroline de Kloet said two other robberies happened in the area within the span of about 30 minutes, starting around 9 a.m. The first robbery happened in the Sheppard Avenue East and Markham Road area and the second was in the Progress Avenue and Brimley Road.

A gun was reportedly seen during the Progress and Brimley robbery.

Police are looking into whether the three are connected.

“It’s too soon to say but we are investigating all three and investigators will identify if they are related or not,” she explained.

There has been no word if anyone was injured during the robberies.
