Last Updated Oct 7, 2018 at 11:59 pm EDT

Peel Regional Police are investigating after a man was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries for “reasons yet unknown” in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police responded to a call for medical assistance shortly before 4 a.m. in the Bovaird Drive and Highway 410 area.

Investigators say a 21-year-old man was at a shopping centre at 30 Great Lakes Drive in Brampton between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

He suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to a Toronto trauma centre for treatment. Police say they do not know what caused the victim’s injuries at this time.

Investigators believe a motor vehicle may be responsible and the Major Collision Bureau has taken over the investigation.

Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

Witnesses who may have seen an incident in the area or anyone with surveillance footage or dash cam video is asked to contact Peel police or Crime Stoppers.
