Man shot dead near York University, victim identified

Toronto police have released the name and photograph of the city’s 82nd homicide victim.

A man in his 40s died after a shooting at a strip mall in an industrial area near York University on Tuesday night.

Toronto police were called to Keele Street and Canarctic Drive just after 9:30 p.m. for a report of gunshots.

The commercial building houses an auto-detailing shop on the main floor and an unmarked marijuana dispensary on the upper floor.

The man was found shot outside without vital signs, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The victim has been identified as 44-year-old Dwayne McMillan of Toronto.

There’s no word yet on any suspects.
