York Regional Police have released video of an assault in Richmond Hill from August in a bid to identify the suspect.

Police say they responded to a weapons call in a parking lot on Granton Drive in the area of 16th Avenue and Leslie Street on Aug. 28, shortly after 11 a.m.

Police say the victim arrived at the building and got out of his car to get some items from the trunk. An unknown male suspect suddenly ran at him and began hitting him in the head with an unknown object.

The victim was able to run into the building and call for help while the suspect fled the scene and got into the passenger side of a white Chevrolet.

When officers arrived they found a victim suffering from non-life threatening head injuries. He was taken to hospital for treatment and later released.

Police say they have exhausted all leads and are releasing surveillance video of the incident, appealing for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
