3 teens injured after car crashes into TTC construction site, SIU investgating

By News Staff

The province’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating after a car crashed into a TTC construction site early Wednesday morning, injuring three teenagers.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Dundas Street West and Lansdowne Avenue around 2:45 a.m. after the vehicle slammed into the site and flipped onto its side.

Reports from the scene indicate the vehicle was going north on Lansdowne when, for an unknown reason, it crashed into the site.

Construction was going on at the time of the crash. None of the workers were injured.

The SIU says police were attempting to stop the vehicle which had reportedly been stolen when the accident occurred.

The three teens — a boy and two girls — were all taken to a local trauma centre.

Paramedics said their injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.

The intersection of Dundas and Lansdowne has been closed for several weeks while TTC crews repair streetcar tracks.

The area is scheduled to reopen Oct. 5. There has been no word on if this crash will delay construction.
