Nominations for 25-ward city election to resume Thursday

By News Staff

The City of Toronto says it will begin accepting nominations again for the upcoming municipal elections starting on Thursday.

Following the decision Wednesday to stay the Superior Court of Justice decision on the cutting of council seats, the City Clerk’s office says nominations for city councillor and school board trustee will begin again on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. at two locations, City Hall and 89 Northline Road.

Anyone who filed nomination papers under the 47 ward model will need to submit a Change of Ward Notification form if they wish to be considered under the 25 ward system. There will not be any additional fees charged to make the switch.

Anyone who previously registered and does not notify the City Clerk of their intention to continue running by Friday at 4:30 p.m. will have their name withdrawn.

The municipal election is scheduled to take place on Monday, Oct. 22.
