Gunshot victim dropped off at Scarborough hospital

By News Staff

Police are investigating after a male with a gunshot wound was dropped off at a hospital in Scarborough on Wednesday night.

Police initially responded to a call for the sound of gunshots in the Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road area around 7 p.m.

They say four to ten shots were heard and a vehicle was seen quickly fleeing the area.

Officers found shell casings in the area but did not locate a victim.

Police say a local hospital reported that a gunshot victim was driven to hospital and the vehicle fled after dropping him off.

Paramedics say he was taken to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

A witness tells CityNews he heard what sounded like fireworks at Sheppard and McCowan. Soon after saw a red four-door Hyundai Elantra leaving the area, speeding down the wrong side of the road.

Police say the victim was driven to hospital by a red car, but did not confirm the make or model of the vehicle. They are looking for the driver of the vehicle.

Police are also looking for two suspects who witnesses say fled from the scene on foot.

No suspect descriptions are available at this time.
