Boy, 17, charged with first-degree murder after Weston stabbing

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder after a stabbing in Toronto’s west end last week.

Police said Kafi Abshir, 30, was stabbed in an apartment building on Bellevue Crescent, near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West, and then chased onto the street where he collapsed.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

A suspect was seen running away.

Soon after, York regional police arrested a teen on an unrelated matter.

He was charged with first-degree murder on Monday.

He can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
