Police have identified a man killed in a stabbing in Toronto’s west end on Friday morning.

Police said Kafi Abshir, 30, was attacked and stabbed in an apartment building on Bellevue Crescent, near Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West, and then chased onto the street where he collapsed.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.

A suspect was seen running away.

Soon after, York Regional Police arrested a 17-year-old boy on an unrelated matter.

Investigators believe he is responsible for the stabbing and plan to lay charges against him on Monday.

He can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

An autopsy will be performed on Abshir on Monday.
