Markham and Richmond Hill are saying no, thank you, to pot shops.
The municipalities are taking advantage of a one-time chance to opt out of legal cannabis sales in their jurisdictions.
On Monday, Doug Ford’s government announced that municipalities will be able to disallow weed sales.
But with the municipal elections in the fall, a new council could reverse the decisions.
The province will introduce cannabis stores in the province in April 2019.
