A man has been arrested in connection with the death of another man in South Riverside early Saturday morning.
Police and paramedics were called to an area on Eastern Avenue near Broadview Avenue just before 1 a.m. Saturday. They discovered a man lying face down on the sidewalk suffering from trauma to his chest, likely stab wounds.
The victim was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as 47-year-old Kerry Romain of Toronto.
Homicide Det. Leslie Dunkley says following an extensive video and witness canvass of the area, a suspect was arrested shortly before 5 p.m. and now faces a charge of second-degree murder. Police say there is no further threat to the public and they are not looking for any other suspects.
On Sunday, police identified the suspect as 45-year-old Roger Foreshaw of Toronto.
Dunkley would not say how the victim and the suspect were acquainted but added it was an unprovoked attack.
