Suspicious package at Pearson cleared by police

By News Staff

Peel police have cleared a suspicious package at Pearson International Airport after initial reports shut down roads to the ground level of Terminal 1.

Police responded to a call at around 1 p.m. Wednesday, after an unattended bag was found outside, at the ground level of Terminal 1.

A K-9 unit was the first to arrive on scene and conducted a preliminary check. Following that check, it was determined that the Explosive Device Unit (EDU) should be called in.

An investigation was conducted and police determined the package was harmless.

Roads to the ground level of Terminal 1 were closed, but have since reopened. The closure did not adversely affect any flights in and out of Pearson.
