Man, 30, charged with murder after altercation at Rexdale plaza

Toronto police have charged a 30-year-old man with murder after an altercation left another man dead at a Rexdale plaza.
Officers were called to a grocery store at Martin Grove Road and John Garland Boulevard at around 12:30 on Saturday.
They found one man without vital signs. EMS tell CityNews he was suffering from stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
The victim has not been identified as next-of-kin has not been notified.
Police allege the two men were involved in a physical altercation. The suspect then fled the scene and was located a short time later.
“Officers from 23 Division happened to be in the area and observed an altercation occurring within the plaza and were able to give chase to the perpetrator and arrest that person,” said Det.-Sgt. Kevin Leahy.
Joseph Whittick, 30, Toronto has been charged with one count of first-degree murder.
He appeared in court on Sunday.
