Man in critical condition after hit-and-run in North York

Toronto police are searching for the driver after a pedestrian was injured in an alleged hit-and-run in North York.

It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday near Finch Avenue West and Jane Street.

Toronto police say a 20-year-old man was crossing Finch at Tobermory Drive when he was hit by a vehicle.

The man was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the driver fled the scene, and was last seen heading westbound on Finch Avenue East.

The vehicle is described as a dark-coloured sedan with front-end damage from the collision.

Any witnesses or drivers with dash-cam footage are asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Soon after, around 3:30 a.m., a woman was hit by a taxi near Gerrard Street East and Carlaw Avenue.

She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
