Boy, 16, arrested in fatal Mississauga house party stabbing

A 16-year-old boy has been charged with second-degree murder and assault causing bodily harm in connection to a fatal stabbing at a Mississauga house party last month.

Police were called to the area of Tradewind Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard for reports of a stabbing at an after prom party in the early morning hours of May 26.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old man with obvious signs of trauma. He was rushed to hospital where he later died.

The victim was later identified as Daniel Smith.

A number of online posts said Smith was stabbed while attempting to break up a fight.

On Thursday, police arrested a 16-year-old boy along with a second person, Noor Mohamed, 18, who is charged with accessory after fact to murder.
