In photos: flash storm causes damage across GTA

By Dilshad Burman

It stopped as quickly as it started, but the storm that swept through Toronto and the GTA on Wednesday afternoon made its presence felt with downed trees, flooding and power outages.

Toronto Hydro said approximately 10,000 customers were without power soon after the downpour. That number went down to 9,000 customers by 10 p.m.

Just before 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, the power utility said around 2,100 customers are without power.

“Many of these outages are smaller and still don’t have an ETOR — especially with significant damage,” Toronto Hydro tweeted.
