3rd suspect arrested in beating of man with autism in Mississauga

The third man wanted in connection with a viscous attack on a man living with autism has been arrested.

Peel police said 21-year-old Jaspaul Uppal, of no-fixed address, surrendered himself to the Abbotsford Police Department in British Columbia on Saturday — three days after a Canada-wide warrant was issued for his arrest.

Uppal is expected to appear in Brampton court on Thursday to face a charge of aggravated assault.

The attack on the 29-year-old man happened at a Mississauga bus terminal back in March.

A video of the attack released by police shows the victim sitting at the bottom of a stairwell putting on roller blades when three young men approached from behind and began to punch and kick him.

Police said the unidentified victim suffered a broken nose and facial cuts.

Two of the three men believed to be responsible for the assault were arrested in the weeks following the video’s release and charged with aggravated assault.
