One person is dead after a small explosion in the Eglinton Avenue and Caledonia Road area on Sunday morning.
Paramedics told 680 NEWS that a man in his 20s was climbing a hydro tower shortly after 6 a.m. when there was a flash and a small explosion.
The man fell to the ground and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Const. David Hopkinson says it’s unclear why the man climbed the tower and issued a safety warning for people to stay away from hydro towers.
“We see people climbing towers to take pictures and going to dangerous lengths for a short thrill. Its very dangerous activity and we discourage anyone from doing so.
Police say they will not be releasing the name of the victim.
This man lives right beside the tower and tells me that he heard a very loud noise this morning. @CityNews pic.twitter.com/Xs0Q0a1Pvl
