A 24-year-old Toronto man is dead after a high-speed, single-vehicle crash in Richmond Hill.

York regional police were called to 16th Avenue near Bayview Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Friday.

The man was driving east on 16th Avenue, when he lost control of his car. The vehicle travelled across four lawns, cut across a driveway, hit a parked SUV and rolled into some trees. It ended up on its side.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the only person in the car.

Police are investigating if the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.

They are asking any witnesses or anyone with dashcam video of the crash to call them.
