Pack your patience: Snow causes challenging commute

The commute home is expected to be a challenging one, with snow already on the ground and still continuing to fall.

A special weather statement remains in effect for the GTA, calling for between five and 10 centimetres of snow. Areas near the Lake Ontario shoreline could receive higher amounts.

As forecast, snow started to fall in the morning, which prompted some school bus cancellations in the GTA.

The snowfall is expected to taper off by the afternoon, but the roads will most likely be snow-covered for the commute home.

Police say they have been dealing with several single-vehicle crashes on the roads, with cars ending up in ditches and slamming into guardrails.

More snow is expected on Friday — at least five centimetres — which is also expected to affect both commutes.
