Weather travel advisory with snow on the way for Monday

A winter weather travel advisory is in effect for portions of the GTA on Monday, ahead of a system moving in for the afternoon drive home.
Earlier in the day, a second advisory was in effect for Toronto, and York and Durham regions, calling for around five centimetres of lake-effect snow. This advisory has since ended.
However, “a more widespread area of snow” is forecast for the afternoon commute, bringing with it another five centimetres of snow to the west end of the GTA by nightfall. Up to 10 centimetres could fall in areas closer to the lake.
“Roads may quickly become snow covered and icy. Visibilities are expected to be reduced at times in the snow bands,” Environment Canada warns.
680 NEWS meteorologist Jill Taylor says the second round of snow for the GTA will arrive after 4 p.m. Her forecast calls for between 3-7 centimetres of snow by late evening. Although the high is -4 C the wind will make it feel like -12 C.
